Malaysian Law Enforcement Officials announced today that they have begun making all of the preparations needed to crack down on illegal online betting for the Fifa World Cup which will be played this summer. The gambling traffic in Malaysia is set to increase tenfold once the Fifa World Cup begins later on this summer.
Roslee Chik, The Principal Assistant Director At the Police Federal Secret Society, Vice and Gambling Division commented on these future preparations saying, “We plan to set in a motion of events that will allow for us to crack down on any form of illegal betting occurring during the Fifa World Cup. We want to be ensured that everything runs smoothly across all ends and that there are no hiccups along the way. In order to do this we must put our best men and woman on creating a strategy that will allow us to know who is gambling illegally and where their gambling illegally. This in return will allow for us to put a stop to illegal betting on the Fifa World Cup in a short period of time.
During the 2010 Fifa World Cup, online betting in Malaysia grew by twenty percent and 227 people were arrested due to their involvement in various illegal online betting activity. This year Malaysia plans to arrest double that amount with their new strategies. The result will be a more smooth and easy going experience for law enforcement officials while they are watching over the Fifa World Cup stadium in Malaysia.
